All The Nine Skulls

Skull #1: Tsavo Highway: Jump on the tube that goes along the left side of the highway. Fall down to the very bottom ledge on the left. Turn to your left. There will be a ledge to jump on. Jump there to find the skull.

Skull #2: Mythic Halo: Go Straight on the ledge and turn right. Walk past that rock with the wierd shadow for about 5 seconds. And once again turn right, Go straight to get the skull.

Skull #3: Catch The Storm: Jump onto the top of the thing that looks like a very small grain silo with a wall next to it.

Skull #4: Blackeye Crowsnest: Jump onto the huge air-conditioning tube thingy. Go straight to get the skull.

Skull #5: Grunt B-Day Crowsnest: Walk down the corrider and off the edge. Right after you fall turn and go to the next tube to find the skull.

Skull #6: Iron Sierra: Go outside and turn left. There is a box-thingy Jump up and up. Go straight, turn right. Turn left, then right, and just keep walking to the end. Turn, left and Wal-Ah.

Skull #7: Blindluck Silver Sierra117: At the edge leading to the water beyond those two wierd trees is the skull.

Skull #8: Faming the Ark: Jump up to the camipee thingy and walk all the way down to the last hook-support thing. and set up a sheild thing to jump on. Jump on the support thing at get the skull.

Skull #9: Thunderstorm Covenant: Get in the Hornet. You’ll take a side tour towards the building thing that as the wierd sticks. Go to the thing that looks like a mouth. That is where the skull is.
I have a great tip for every one that plays oddball. Most of the time people just walk around and hope that nobody sees them. What you can do is throw a buble shield up and stay in there until an enemy comes close. When they do, wack them 1 time and they die. Also while you are in the bubble shield, try to look for a good cover area for when the shield goes away. Lots of times people dont realize that when the shield goes out that there is cover right behind them. They end up going somewhere to die. Always be under cover or behind something

I f you have any questions just ask me in the comments!

I will soon have videos of every skull but 1 i can’t find my camrea and my xbox in under repair at Microsoft

The helmet is solar powered, and recharges from the energy from the sun or from the Mark IV Combat Suit.

Brute Shot
Magazine Size: 6
Dual-Wieldable: No
Underpowered in Halo 2, the Brute Shot’s magazine has been upgraded to hold six ‘nades at a time. This easy to use grenade launcher’s newly enhanced accuracy makes it a sturdy anti-vehicle weapon, and the grenades don’t bounce off surfaces anymore. The melee attack with the Brute Shot is also extremely lethal as it has a spear attached to it, which can be used to bludgeon an enemy. Bear in mind that even though you can’t zoom or dual wield with this weapon, its precision and power are a combination that can explode the life out of even the most hardened Halo veteran.

Pros: It spits out grenades much faster than your average grenade launcher and it still inflicts a lot of damage just like your average grenade launcher. During Halo 3 campaign, the Brute Shot is easily attainable because you’ll always be running into Brutes carrying these things around. The weapon is effective in taking down larger enemies and if you don’t quite kill a target, the blade attached to the Brute Shot which increases its melee power will come in handy when you bash them with it.

Cons: The Brute Shot is not nearly as devastating as other guns in the game that fire explosive projectiles, such as the Rocket Launcher, Missile Pod, etc. Its clip is also relatively modest so the second weapon you have equipped needs to be more balanced, meaning you need something that holds more ammunition so you don’t run out of bullets while in the middle of a fight.

Gravity Hammer
Magazine Size: 100
Dual-Wieldable: No
Thor himself would shat his loin cloth if he ran into someone wielding one of these behemothic Brute hammers. Similar to the Energy Sword, the Gravity Hammer is a two-handed weapon that you can use to strike down your enemies with ease. For maximum results, sneak up on an unsuspecting enemy, bust out the G-Hammer, and then deliver a concentrated blow to your target.

Pros: Swinging this giant hammer into an enemy will almost guarantee their demise. Once you experience the destruction this weapon is capable of, you’ll know why only Spartans and Brutes can hold these heavy bats up and use it to smash their attackers. Taking the Gravity Hammer into battle allows you to crush multiple enemies with a single blow. Also, if an enemy is out of range, the shockwave created by the weapon will push them away from you.

Cons: The Hammer is not a practical weapon to use when fighting against a large group of enemies because its size and weight causes it to take a long time just to swing the damn thing once. The Gravity Hammer’s range is also extremely limited.

Mauler
Magazine Size: 5
Dual-Wieldable: Yes
The Mauler is the Brute equivalent to the shotgun, and while its size is modest, it does pack a killer punch just like the UNSC boomstick. Even though it only holds 5 bullets, you can have one of these in each hand which makes the Mauler a great deal more devastating.

Pros: Maulers are a faster to way to destroy your foes than your default weapon (the Assault Rifle) as well as many other weapons available in Halo 3. The Mauler is an effective way to blow the brains out of your enemies in a hurry.

Cons: They have a slow rate of fire, and, being a close relative to the human shotgun, the Mauler’s range is limited and you won’t be able to hit targets that are more than a few feet in front of you. Although you can and will find them, Maulers are also somewhat scarce during the Halo 3 campaign.

Spike Grenades
Magazine Size: N/A – (You can hold 2 of each type of grenade at once)
Giving new meaning to “sticking it to someone,” the Brute Spike Grenade looks like a cross between a medieval mace and a Stielhandgranate, but is actually the perfect tool for attaining instant kills. Chucking one of these spiked bombs at an enemy with enough precision will cause it to stick to their body. After this happens, all you have to do is watch as the Spike Grenade’s detonation destroys them, but don’t stand too close or you’ll end up getting marred in the process. Successfully doing this takes a steady hand and good aim, and if you can’t manage to pelt others with it, sticking it to a surface can still hurt them if they are within the blast radius.

Pros: If an enemy gets close enough to cave their face in with the butt of your gun, you can always eliminate the risk of them killing you first with a melee attack by stapling a Spike Grenade to their flesh.

Cons: If your aiming is crappy, then these spiked Brute bombs are essentially useless to you and you’re better off using Frag Grenades.

The Spiker fires superheated projectiles that literally sink right through energy shields, your foes, and just about anything else you point it at. Pick up two of these bad boys at once to really eat up your enemies with the Spiker. Keep in mind that the damage you can inflict with this gun is somewhat limited and you need to spray enemies with lots of its ammo to get them to croak.

Pros: If you don’t miss, unloading the Spiker’s projectiles on an enemy will quickly deplete their health. The clip is relatively big, giving you a considerable amount of time to make your target(s) dead before having to reload.

Cons: Although the Spiker is powerful, it is certainly not the most powerful weapon available in the game, and for certain battles it’s not your best option if you can get to other deadlier weapons.
Although you can’t dual wield this two-handed particle Beam Rifle, you can zoom (and zoom in again to get an even closer shot) on enemies when delivering their doom. Two bullets fired through an enemy’s flesh will knock them over permanently, but you’ll still need to nail them in the dome if you want them to die with one shot. The Beam Rifle is similar to the Sniper Rifle in terms of what it takes to slay with it–the difference between the two being that the Beam Rifle fires faster that the human version of this gun.

Pros: You can put down an enemy by shooting at them with the Rifle only a couple of times. The Beam Rifle also pumps out its rounds relatively fast for a sniper rifle. If you’re decent at sniping, it is also quite deadly when used during multiplayer matches.

Cons: This Covenant rifle isn’t ideal for close range combat, and its slow rate of fire makes it not the best choice when having to kill off a large horde of enemies.

Dual-Wieldable: No
An essential firearm for the Halo marksman, the Carbine is a common favorite among players who want a little more power and distance than your spawning weapon. The Carbine is ever-so-slightly improved since Halo 2, in both firing speed and the damage it causes to others once you pump its rounds into them. It takes several hits to slay enemies with the Carbine, but again, the bullets spray out of this thing fast.

Pros: Overall, the Covenant Carbine very similar to its Halo 2 predecessor and excels at medium-range shootouts. If you’re good at sniping enemies dead, then the Covenant Carbine is a great choice to pick off enemies that aren’t right in front of you.

Cons: While it is tempting to try to take on enemies who are so far away from you that they are barely visible, the Carbine is not a sniper rifle and you won’t be able to kill enemies in the distance.

Dual-Wieldable: No
It may look just like a pointy shard of ice, but the Covenant Energy Sword is easily one of the most devastating weapons available in the game–gripping this ultra-sharp sword in your mitts will allow you to lunge forward and slash through an enemy’s flesh quickly. This behemoth blade is different from Halo 2 in that you can no longer slay a hundred enemies with it because the Energy Sword now has a battery life which drains will each Spartan you slaughter. Keep in mind that they are scarce, and if you know where one is you should head for it and try to keep Energy Sword horders for racking up their kill counts by making it hard for them to continuously wield one. If you’re equipped with anything less powerful than a Rocket Launcher, Sniper Rifle (or their equivalents), then it might be a good idea to just run when faced with an opponent carrying one of these.

Pros: Insanely deadly, the Energy Sword is one of the worst things to see in your enemy’s hand during a multiplayer match. You can also wipe out a significant amount of enemies with it because it is good for many strikes.

Cons: It’s a sword, so there’s no bullets in it… meaning, you’re going to have to be close enough to smell your enemies’ B.O. to be able to chop them to death with the Energy Sword.

If you find yourself near one or more enemy vehicles, just whip it out and blast your targets with its radioactive rods.

Pros: The damage the Fuel Rod Gun deals is extremely high.

Cons: The FRG’s projectiles come out slow and if you’re faced with several enemies you’re going to have a hard time ridding the area of them with this cannon.

This gun fires a stream of razor-sharp spikes that can tear through your enemies like a white-hot chainsaw through butter. The Needler may be the stupidest looking weapon in the game, but the it can definitely get you through some of the nastiest battles Halo 3 campaign has to offer. It’s also not a bad weapon to use to brutalize enemies during multiplayer matches.

Pros: Believe it or not, the new-and-improved Needler is one of the most powerful weapons in Halo 3. Its rapid firing rate and enemy-seeking projectiles can quickly rip through one enemy in medium-to-long range combat.

Cons: The Needler is no longer dual-wieldable like it was in Halo 2, and it suffers from a small ammo clip. But you should note that wasting an enemy can be done before you even burn through a single clip if your aiming is dead right. It also looks you’re holding a robot porcupine in your hand rather than a deadly alien gun when holding the Needler.

The Type-52 Automatic Plasma Cannon is the Covenant version of the Chaingun that you can use to massacre a large horde of baddies.
Pros: The Plasma Cannon doesn’t need to reload-meaning that you can blast enemies to death in an area until there is no one left standing.

Cons: Turning around while holding this heavy bastard is a real pain in the neck and is not recommended. Covenant hand grenades are essential in ridding an area of infantry. Once you chuck a Plasma Grenade at an enemy and hit them you’ll notice that it sticks to them–it’s similar to the Spike Grenades, but unlike the Brute Grenades it does not stick to surfaces or anything other than living targets. The Plasma Grenade is yet another deadly explosive in your arsenal that you should take full advantage of. This infamous sticky grenade, which can be used similarly to the Spike Grenade to gain instant kills, hasn’t changed much since Halo 2, save for the new cornea-frying special effects. Plasma Grenades also emit a high-pitched whine just prior to explosion, so move out of the way quickly if you hear one about to blow.

Pros: The Plasma Grenades are exceedingly deadly and they are a good way to kill of your enemies in between loading your weapons (and they’ll save your life if you run out of ammunition entirely).

Dual-Wieldable: Yes
While it does not inflict half the damage of most of the weapons in Halo 3, the Covenant Plasma Pistol is an indispensable weapon to use in the game. In H3, the controversial Plasma Pistol has been toned down in two ways: your battery life now leaks away while you overcharge, and overcharged shots do not follow enemies as they did in the previous Halo game. The trajectory of Plasma Pistol ammunition only tags what’s directly in front of you. The good side about wrapping your fingers around this Covenant weapon is that an overcharged shot with it will freeze a moving vehicle, temporarily disabling it. In most situations the Plasma Pistol is not recommended for combat unless you plan on dual wielding.

Pros: It can deplete shields quickly, giving you the perfect opportunity to switch to another weapon to go for the kill. A charged shot with the Plasma Pistol will also disable vehicles. This is a great way to take revenge on vehicle hogs.

Cons: When not used with other weapons, the Plasma Pistol is useless in many scenarios in the game.

Flashy new particle effects and a slightly faster melee attack don’t change what is fundamentally a shield-draining weapon, but it’s not a complete waste of time to pick up this weapon. Bursts of ammo from the Plasma Rifle are spewed out of this gun at a rapid pace, which is good for fast moving enemies (and also good if your aiming is poor). Harness the Covenant weapon’s killing power by holding two of them at a time, to ensure that you can finish them off without switching to another weapon.

Pros: For a weapon that has as high of a rate of fire as the Plasma Rifle does, the damage it is capable of is considerably high.

This stripped-down starting weapon reduces your dependency on dual wield weapons, making Halo 3 feel closer to the first Halo. The AR is a big improvement over Halo 1′s Assault Rifle, though. It inflicts massive damage at medium range and nearly guarantees you a kill. Still, its 32 round clip is not sufficient for battles against 2 or more enemies. Dubbed by some as “The Ultimate Spawning Weapon,” this gas operated, fully automatic projectile rifle is as reliable as default weapons get, and against one unsuspecting enemy, the AR is all you need to debone their carcass with hot lead.

Pros: Extremely effective in slaying enemies for a spawning weapon, the UNSC Assault Rifle is also effective during Halo 3 multiplayer.

Zooming in on enemy targets with this gun should always be implemented when carrying this destructive weapon.

Pros: The Battle Rifle is especially useful for Spartans who have developed their aiming skills. Not only does it hold more rounds than the regular Assault Rifle, the Battle Rifle is much more devastating.

The most common turret weapon fires a blistering volley of high-impact slugs. The damage is devastating, but ammo and accuracy are limited. Like all turret weapons, you’ll move slowly and lose many abilities while carrying the turret. As strong as Spartans are, you won’t be able to pitch grenades or use any deployables once you tear this monster from its tripod base. While the Magum is somewhat hard to come by during Halo 3′s campaign mode, it is well worth swapping out at least one of your weapons for this powerful UNSC handgun. While each clip only has 12 bullets in it, they are enough to defeat 12 enemies if you nail them in the head. The Magnum, which is similar to the Magnum in the original Halo in feel, is as reliable as handguns get and is a crushing force that you should take advantage of. This recoil-operated sidearm is a perfect choice in close battles, and the fact that it is dual-wieldable makes it even more indispensable in your quest to shed enemy blood.

Pros: In addition to being a devastating firearm, the Magnum is also good at picking off shielded enemies. Aim for enemies’ heads and make them eat lead.

Cons: Its range is low and you won’t come across the Magnum very often in the game. It doesn’t hold very many bullets, so you need to blast enemies with it that are close to you. Another drawback of the Magnum is that there is no zoom functionality on it, so call on its power when you are close enough to smell an enemy’s aftershave, a scent that will quickly turn into the stench of you enemy involuntarily defecating in their undies once you point this silver firearm in their face.

Not to be confused with Halo 3′s Rocket Launcher, the UNSC Missile Pod is a two-handed death cannon that fires jumbo homing missiles. The Missile Pod will just keep shooting missiles until it runs out. This turret weapon rapidly fires miniature heat-seeking missiles, making it a perfect anti-vehicle weapon. Just lock on to a vehicle and blow them to kingdom come.

Pros: There is no reloading with the Missile Pod. This insanely powerful missiles that shoot out of this gun come out fast, giving your enemies not much time to dodge its explosive rounds.
Cons: The ammunition for this gun is scant and its massive size slows your movement speed to a crawl. While you can ravage enemies with even a quasi-awful shot with the Rocket Launcher, it should be noted that the weapon’s vehicle-seeking capabilities. The United Nations Space Command’s boomstick is one of the best weapons to obliterate your foes with at close range. Now deadlier in medium-range combat than Halo players have ever experienced. Still devastating in close quarters brawls and more serviceable at slightly longer distances, a point black shotgun blast to the kisser is nothing to take lightly and if your sniping skills aren’t up to scratch, the Shotgun is a good way to pulverize enemies with a single shot.

Pros: In addition to being very powerful, the Shotgun is also good for taking out someone’s shield, which can be supplemented with a well-aimed melee bashing.

Cons: Halo 3′s shotgun has only six shells per magazine, down from Halo 2′s 12.

SMG
Magazine Size: 60
Dual-Wieldable: Yes
A less common sight on Halo 3′s battlefields, this Sub Machine Gun now features a zippier firing rate but is otherwise unchanged from the previous Halo. Make sure to squeeze two of these in your fists at a time because dual wielding with the SMG is the only way to go if you want to pose a threat to your enemies. While it can’t zoom, the clip is relatively sizable, giving you enough bullets to put down more than just one other enemy in an assault.

Pros: Dual-wielding SMGs is a better alternative to just having your spawning weapon to mow down your enemies. It’s also got a high rate of fire.

Cons: The damage per hit with the UNSC Sub Machine Gun is very low. You also don’t have much range with this weapon either.

Sniper Rifle
Magazine Size: 4
Dual-Wieldable: No
An all-new vector-style nightscope included on this version of the human Sniper Rifle helps you spot hidden enemies. The Sniper Rifle is more akin to that of the first Halo game than Halo 2 in that it fires at a slower face. You can fire off 4 bullets until your chamber is empty and you need to reload your rifle. Keep in mind that, like the Beam Rifle, you can zoom in twice with this gun.

Pros: On top of being one hell of a deadly way to cream enemies from afar, with practice it’s also possible to blind fire enemies (shooting without zooming or aiming) dead.

Cons: The magazine size is modest… too modest if you’re fighting against many enemies. Another drawback is that you’re out of luck if your aiming skills are not up to scratch. Using the Sniper Rifle also leaves you vulnerable when aiming at targets.

Spartan Laser
Magazine Size: 5
Dual-Wieldable: No
The Spartan Laser is effectively a vehicle sniper rifle, but is also good for use as an impromptu rail gun, ala Quake 4. It fires a brief crimson ray that will obliterate an enemy before they know what hit them, or shred a vehicle, with one brush, but it definitely takes some practice before you can confidently whip this bad boy out and deep fry an enemy.

Pros: Once mastered, the Spartan Laser is almost unstoppable. Remember that it’ll always come in handy when you want to destroy vehicles.

Cons: Don’t rely on the Spartan Laser in a tense fight unless you’ve learned how to properly operate it. Its four-second firing delay makes it a poor choice for fighting infantry, unless you’ve got serious rail gun skills. If you see a red gleam on the screen or hear the Laser’s hum of doom, get the hell out of there because you’re about to be lobotomized.

General Game play Tips(Edited and placed capital letters where needed) …Tuttut

Please, please, please don’t make the noob mistake and sword camp without crouching. if you don’t crouch one quick glance at the radar will give out position away and make you an easy target

^^^ Well, as long as you move slowly or not at all, you won’t be detected. Crouching isn’t the only way to avoid detection, but it is the easiest.–

Try setting your controller layout to one where you can jump while continuing to aim and fire. I use bumper jumper. This way on maps like narrows where an enemy can run behind a barrier when you get their shields down, you can hop up and put a burst in their head.

i am putting this at the top because it is a good tip and even though you may already know this it is still important. with the sword instead of using trigger use the meelee button it is a thousand times faster and in sword battles you have the upper hand because you can kill faster than the opposition. also when being chased stick the ground in front of you with a sticky and if timed right the guy chasing will get blown up.

Always know where your team mates are. There is always an arrow pointing at each of your team mates always try to stay at least a couple seconds run from one of your team mates that way if your ambushed or just so happen to run into a sword or a rocket you can run for your team mates for backup or you can damage the enemy enough for your friend to rush in (granted you shouted over your mic for backup) and finish the kill….the universal term for someone that is almost dead but not quite is “one shot” i.e. “one shot by overshield”

-note-when i say say a couple seconds run away. i don’t mean run attached to the hip i always see teams who are just starting out and think “stick together” is good, which it is, but when i can throw one grenade and a couple shots with a br or even better one shot with a rocket and get a double triple or even over kill YOU GUYS WERE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER

when running away from someone just before you enter a door look up and throw a grenade towards the top of the door. I know its self explanatory but the grenade will bounce off the top and fall down and you will be through the door already then turn around and wait.As your victim (who thinks hes got you on the run) runs through the door he will be hit by the grenade and a easy kill for you especially if you jump so he doesn’t even see you at first.

Also my tip for lifts….don’t use them instead of going up the lift on guardian go in the hall towards the shotgun area and jump up the ledge into the door that is between the yellow(lift)room and the blue room this way you can go up shooting and if it gets too hot you can back up and run your not stuck in a lift.Instead of using the yellow lift on construct….walk around unless you are absolutely sure you wont get blasted when you get up there its even better if your team is up there already because a lot of people like to crouch with the sword next to the purple lifts and the yellow one just waiting for you. add me if you wanna play Nodak MasTa i’m also looking for some good players to start a team.

jump around corners. if they’re half decent they’ll have their reticule at head level or have just thrown a grenade, jumping can reduce nade damage and they’ll have to take a sec to adjust their sights. -

also, practice your no scopes, up close and far away. a fun way to do this is just get a buddy or two and go to forge with snipes as primary and just mess around for awhile. no scopes turn a sniper rifle into an effective close range weapon. i’ve gotten bulltrue medals for no scoping sword campers when i turn a corner.

I’m not sure if anybody has mentioned this, I’ve haven’t read all of this page. Remember, Never leave home without a plasma grenade ;) Use it just before you die.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned it yet. Don’t throw frag grenades in close range fights, too many noobs die this way. Just a little tip on Narrows that I have gotten an Overkill with. Over the jump throw the power drain on the jump then throw a grenade where they will land, its impossible to dodge if timed right, also if you are going over the jump walk backwards and throw the bubble shield to prevent that nasty trick.

I’ve got one tip. Use high-ground to an advantage in any situation, it always works, using any weapon to. When on ground level always jump when engaging in combat (not when they are at a great distance e.g using a battle rifle half the map away). If you have the higher ground on a player you will find it is a lot easier to lunge at them with any weapon but especially the sword. If you wish to see if my theory works when on narrows in a sword battle when no-one has the advantage stay on the barriers in the middle, and jump down at you opponent, i find it’s the easiest way to get things like overkills. Also, when hiding round a corner jumping can be a very useful ally. Make sure the enemy can see you on the Motion Tracker (to lure them in) and just before they walk round the corner to kill you.. jump… jump over them… jump over them while shooting down at them. They’ll wonder where the heck you’ve gone and then you can assassinate them while they are still confused. But seriously, jumping gives you a hell of an advantage in any situation (except hiding from being sniped, don’t jump when its not necessary, only the red guy with the mustasche from the Magic Roundabout does that).

Hey I have a tip for all of you that want to become a better shot with the BR, sniper, etc., and it is if you you want to practice no scopes go to Guardian and shot down the bird type things that fly around out side of the map because yes, they do die when you hit them, and to practice scoped shots go to Construct on the platform under the sword room and shoot down the sentinels that fly by. But when that gets too easy go to the Pit and shoot down the little canaries that fly around above the map.

There is also a bunch of birds by the beach atLast Resort.-

Like that guy said previously, throw grenades, when you are being chased, run around a corner, and throw a grenade at the corner, most guys run straight at the corner because they are tempted to kill you because of low health. the idiots run through the corner and MAY get blown up or has no health and you can easy kill.

Another good strategy with grenades is to try and catch people coming up lifts with them (Works especially well on Construct or on the lift on Guardian). If you can see on your radar that a person is coming up a lift throw a grenade where they’ll land and when they get to the top there will be a nice surprise waiting for them. If you’ve timed and placed your nade right (it just takes a bit of practice and you’ll get it every time), the person will come out of the lift and instantly loose their shields leaving them easy fodder for whatever weapon you have. –

NOTE: once the enemy’s shields are down, you can use the Battle Rifle to finish them off with a head shot. This makes it a very quick weapon to dispose of enemies when you use the technique above.–

NOTE: You can also use the power drain where they land in Construct and finish them off with a battle or assault rifle. I once got an overkill this way.–

I have a new strategy for people. If you have an assault rifle fire about ten shots at somebody and then quickly melee. If this doesn’t work bounce a frag on the ground and step back and watch him blow up. If you have an enemy above you and you are separated by a Gravity lift, I recommend chucking either: Plasma grenades, Power drain and Frag grenades. This is what most players do on the map ‘Construct’. Another clever trick on maps that are quite dark and windy is to put trip mines in places the enemy wont expect, like Rats nest or Foundry. If there are multiple enemies like a team standing near a fusion coil or plasma battery don’t miss the chance! Either shoot the fusion coil/plasma battery or chuck a grenade. I find this handy in Construct and Snowbound, one of my two favorite maps. Chucking trip mines up Gravity lifts is quite good also. You should be equipped with 2 spikes and 2 frags if you really want to face an enemy. One really great thing to do if an enemy has equipped a bubble shield is to run in and through a spike grenade and run out. The spikes will bounce about and completely own the person inside. If they are not dead, you can just walk in and give them hell.

Always Throw Grenades!!!! Think about the pile of grenades that your corpse drops when you’re killed. Now think what might have been different if you lead off attacks with grenades. Before corners, when the motion sensor shows an enemy, when visually spotted, WHENEVER just throw grenades. A close miss will cripple shields leaving the enemy open for a quick burst of death. There is no shortage of grenades especially after a few dead players drop theirs. If you died with a full load of grenades you didn’t fight the enemy with the strongest weapon in your arsenal.

Hint: Throwing grenades do not always work if you are playing against more than 2 people. again, use your radar.

Throwing grenades is all well and good but you shout NEVER have a set in stone plan. if you go into a battle thinking “ok first i have to unload all of my grenades” you’ll be dead in a minute… it all depends on the situation try to mix it up a bit and adapt to whats in front of you.

i agree with heydrich, it’s only a smart thing to throw grenades before walking into a corner. But, what i see most people do is throw a grenade before engaging in a battle. if had a couple of people try to grenade me with a frag when i’m close enough to melee them. i know they didn’t try to stick me because they was no stickies on the map, plus when i say they threw it at me, i meant they threw it off the ground hoping it would bounce right up and explode on my face. It’s funny to see them do it thought, cause most of the time they end up taking there own shields down, sometimes do suicide. -

Don’t listen to him! I hate grenade throwers so unless you want to get sniped in the face, I suggest you keep those devil balls to yourself. Just kidding, I don’t care if people throw grenades( I do actually) becuse I know that I’ll just anyway. It’s all about confidence and how you feel about your ability. Trust me, if you’re really confident and you know that you’ll get the kill (snipe, for me) then you’ve essentially won the game. Put yourself in the state of mind to where you know everything will go you’re way –

A fun cheap strategy on High Ground is to go up where the spartan laser is with a sniper or some powerful weapon. even sticky grenades and crouch along the wall so you can look down the stairs. just wait for enemies to walk around the corner expecting an easy kill and get the free head shot. works especially well with big teams in shotty sniper mode. Also you can go where the broken concrete meets the dirt on the side of the map near the power up and crouch in the small space and snipe away at the spartan laser location.

Obviously the best advice is teamwork, don’t go it alone, you will die!!! Communicate with your teammates, learn the terms for specific positions on the map (naming weapon spawn points is probably the easiest way).

Whenever you open fire, you reveal your location to others. If you are in a bad situation, don’t shoot unless you are sure you will kill your opponent. Otherwise, you’ll most likely end the game with a negative kill to death spread.

The Bubble Shields and Spiker Grenades can be a great trap when used together in combination. First deploy the shield, then as an opponent inevitably walks through it in an attempt to melee you, throw a spiker inside and run outside the shield perimeter, the spiked shrapnel should ricochet off the inside of the shield walls for about 2-3 seconds. A guaranteed death for anyone inside. I have used 2 spike grenades at most before the emitter is destroyed by the shrapnel.

Another good combo is the battle rifle and the energy drain. For example if you see an enemy coming around a corner wait for them to just get to the corner and toss the energy drain and aim for the head.

If you don’t have the best weapon or are getting shot, try to dodge and find cover until you can find a better weapon that you know will totally pummel them into the ground. If someone is sniping you or just plain shooting you from far distance, try crouching (pushing down the left thumbstick) while jumping. It makes it much more difficult for your opponent to hit you. -

Approach your opponents in such a way that best suits what weapon you have. And do it in a such a way that makes it hard for your target to kill you when he or she returns fire.

Sometimes when you are engaged in a one-on-one fight with an opponent, another opponent will suddenly appear on the scene. You might be disoriented and tempted to shift your attention to the new arrival, but it’s important to continue focusing on the opponent who you’ve already softened up a bit and try to finish them off before attacking the new opponent. –

Always remember the Golden Three tenets of Halo — Weapons, Grenades, and Melee. Always think of which of these three will best suit your current situation. Do I throw a grenade to soften them up? Does my weapon give me the advantage? Am I close enough to melee? Though its not always this simple, its always good to understand your current situation, and adapt accordingly.

Do you know how players can dodge your vehicle when you’re trying to run them over just by jumping? When using the ghost, you can trick people and run them over. First boost at the person like you are going to run them over. When you get a few feet in front of them and they start to jump, STOP, then as they are coming down, use boost and fly straight at them. You should ram them as they are coming down. -

A little add to last tip: if the person you try to splatter jumps towards you, back up or flee or they might hijack you. — 17:27, 17 December 2007 (CET)

Whenever you are on a one on one fight with another AR person that is also trying to melee you by shooting first, as you are charging each other, before getting into melee range, back a little scoring a few more bullets on the persons shield and melee. By doing this 1.) the person would melee when your backing up thus missing you and you can get the kill or 2.) by doing this, you’ll get the person off-guard giving you the advantage.–

Although quite difficult to pull off successfully, this tip can be extremely useful. If you ever find yourself the moment in which somebody is trying to snipe you from afar with a Rocket Launcher, and you just happen to have the wondrously useful Gravity Hammer and, for whatever reason, you seem it fit not to move out of the way, you can always have a quick game of Baseball!

Step one: Wield your Gravity Hammer!

Step two: Aim the Gravity Hammer as close as you can to the oncoming Rocket.

Step three: This is the hard bit. When the Rocket comes close to you, whack it’s metal brains out! If you get it right, the Rocket should go flying off in the direction you hit it. If you practice enough, you might even hit the person who fired at you! And for extra ridicule, you can always try to capture it on film. That way, you can replay the moment of defeat again, and again, and again!

^Im actually going to say it doesn’t take practice mostly because you said “it should go flying off in the direction you hit it”

Try to follow up a Shotgun blast with a melee attack. If you’re close enough, the initial shot will weaken them enough for the melee to finish them off. This is not necessarily a good idea against the sword though. . .

With the Spartan Laser, Charge the firing sequence halfway, then if you don’t have a target, release the trigger and repeat charging halfway. By doing this, you can drastically reduce the amount of time that you need to charge the Laser before firing. Be careful though, this method does have it’s disadvantages, especially if a target sees the charging beam before you can see them. -

The best tip I can think of is to just grab an AR, then when you spot an enemy run towards them firing. By the time you reach them your clip of ammo should be gone along with their entire shield. Then all you need is a simple melee attack. This is an excellent trick that will work in most situations but requires practice and good timing. =[in the skies]=

Halo 3 does require you to have a little bit of a brain. Say you’re on Guardian and you’re in front of the main grav lift elevator thing and on the other side of the level is a guy with a sniper rifle and you have plasma grenades and he’s about to snipe you. What do you do? Don’t throw the grenade directly at him/her or it’ll land somewhere you don’t want it and then you get sniped. Throw it somewhere above him and DOOSH!

Don’t use the same weapon every time, especially if you are doing social playlists. If you normally use the shotty, try sniping, and vice versa. That way you will be able to use whatever weapons are at hand somewhat effectively. Doing this in social playlists is the best because it is unranked, and it doesn’t matter if you do bad.

All though energy swords and gravity hammers are very powerful they are worthless when someone is far off. This being said remember to put them away if u have a gun when someone is far off. this may sound like a really dumb thing to say yet so many times i see someone with one out die because they don’t put it away when its doesn’t come in handy

Increase the turning sensitivity up! This may seem like such a pointless idea, but if you have a turning rate of 8, and someone else has the normal 3, if you both need to turn around, who is gonna start getting hit first…

It doesn’t take long to get used to the increases turning speed.

What is the best thing when you know for sure that you are going to die? Take some with you of course! My favorite way is called the frag-melee combo. This works best if you have the green thumb button layout, and only frag grenades (because if you have the spiker or plasma grenade you can just stick them). What you do is you throw a grenade and immediately after you melee that person. Green thumb helps because, when mastered, you can melee faster than having to press B. Instead you press the right analog stick in. So, doing this combo lets you throw a grenade and then melee them taking away some of their shields. So, when you die the grenade kills them. -

Always have two types of weapons, long ranged and short ranged. U never want to be caught close range with a sniper and u cant hit a person for a distance with an assault rifle. If your a long raged person frag nades are the best nades for u and for close rang go with stickies. P.S. never have two heavy weapons, just keep your variety open. :]-

I totally agree. It makes no sense dancing around town with a shotgun and a mauler. Its totally redundant. Other bad combos are sniper rifle and the laser. I’ve died 4-5 times by an assault rifle when I had the sniper and laser just because I was too greedy to let go of one.

When you have higher ground than an enemy and he has almost no cover near him, chuck a power drain at him followed by a frag grenade. Great use for Construct. Another way to get rid of annoying Grav Lifts campers is to throw a power drain up it followed by a frag grenade. Best thing is to chuck both stuff at the same time with a teammate. If you are a camper, just throw the drainer where your enemy will land and BR/Grenade him. The reason you should use frag instead of plasma grenades is that frag grenades bounce more. For FFA, when you see two enemies fighting each other, Just chuck a grenade at them, best used for Swords. Another tip, KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE RADAR AT ALL TIMES! Try to measure when an enemy would come through a doorway and power drain-grenade him. BTW, when you are sure you’re gonna die, face your enemy and just toss a grenade, you might get a death from the grave. This is best used for Plasma and Frag grenades. You would miss 80% of the time with a Spike Grenade. Oh, Firebomb Grenades work the best except for the small fact that THERE ARE NONE ON ANY OF THE DEFAULT MAPS! -

Grenades and gravity lifts: The best example of this situation is on Guardian. When you spawn on the bottom of the level and you know there are enemies on the top of the level toss a couple up. If the enemy thinks your coming up the lift then they will stand right in front to try and bash your skull in. This works on other levels as well best with plasma grenades. The reason for this is that once a frag grenades has hit a surface(wall, floor, ceiling, etc.) then the fuse or whatever begins. Tossing a grenade up a grav lift right in front of an enemy just may result in a grenade stick worth another look after the game.

Another thing that you can do is throw a trip mine into a man cannon, so when your enemy goes through it they land right on top of it. There is nothing better than tossing a trip mine into a man cannon, then getting a kill like 2 minutes later. But one thing that is not fun, is throwing a trip mine into a man cannon and a couple minutes later betraying a team mate and getting booted out of the game because you DIDN’T TELL YOUR TEAM MATES. Another fun thing to do is while in Narrows go through the man cannon with a Needler and just empty a clip at the main ledge. I get a kill like this like 50% of the time.-

Waste ammo! If possible potshot! If you get a rocket launcher or brute shot and your not good with it use it on enemies you see, but will be too preoccupied dodging rockets to kill you. This will slowly teach you about the weapons. A good player knows the speed any given weapon can fire, how accurate it is, and the speed of the projectile, even if they can’t use it well themselves. For sniper rifles it changes slightly. Shoot far off targets who can once again not return fire. If you can’t find any opponents shoot off any of the important weapons where people can’t see it to waste the ammo. An important note to remember however is not to try this with enemies nearby. In Ascending order the weapons that need the most to use the potshots are; the brute shot, the rocket launcher, the sniper/beam rifle.

Man all of these tips so much at once! AHHHH!!!!!! Anyways, on The Pit under the staircase at the base on the right, you will see a little opening under a staircase. Make sure that you have a sniper rifle whenyou go in though. (Crawl) in and TRUST ME people will NOT NOTICE YOU! when they walk past just snipe them in the face for an easy head shot. Also on the Pit, don’t charge for the sword or rocket launcher. If you are going for the rocket launcher, get the portable machine gun (not the SMG), and shoot the hell out of the idiot with the rocket on the other team. If you are going for the sword you can do 2 things to kill him.

1. You can get the sniper rifle and just get a head shot on him if he charges you outside of the sword room.

2. Go by the place where the invisibility is. If it is still there, get it, if its not WATCH OUT! The guy might be lurking around somewhere. Now jump into the sword room into the window diagonally where the mauler respawns. Get the mauler then approach the sword guy with caution. If you crouch down, they can’t see you on their radar. So crouch and move. The guy with the sword might be hiding arund one of the corners so BE CAREFUL!!!! Chuck a grenade off of one of the corner walls and if it hits him, he should move forward from the force of the grenade. If you see him close on your radar, he will most likely have very low health. Charge carefully though. Plan before moving ahead and the mauler is quicker than the sword don’t forget! When you see the guy with sword, shoot him with the mauler than quickly mélée him. Your welcome.

Practice with the mauler in custom games on friends and other people that randomly join your game and beat the crap out of you. Remember press RT, B RT, B, once you perfect it, get the shotgun and practice with that. If you want to add me, which you do i just know you do, just kidding. (Don’t be surprised by my highly embarrassing high voice. Just ignore it.

Yes it is a noob tactic but it works. Camping. Some examples are team slayer on the pit. Get your whole team in the sword room. Then just wait there for the sword to respawn. By the end most of the team has a sword. Some people will get mad but it works. Also stay in the room by the grav lift in guardian.-Halo2fever come play with me.

I just wanted to share a very valuable tip that no one seems to mention. Be COMFORTABLE while playing Halo. You should have a nice, comfy chair to sit in while playing, otherwise you’ll have this unneeded annoyance that can screw you up. Being comfortable gives you concentration, and that helps you win games. -

For me I find there are several types of play; Assault where you just run out guns blazing trying to take as many people with you as possible; Long range where you camp with a sniper and pick off enemies from a distance; stealth where you crouch everywhere, hiding around corners trying to assassinate people; vehicle expert where you’ll get a vehicle and splatter/shoot somebody to death and the demo expert, where you’ll get as many explosives as possible and bomb the enemy to death. If you’re good at one of these strategies, use it. Don’t try and use the long range approach if you suck with the sniper, use a brute shot or RL to take out vehicles if thats what you’re good at. It doesn’t hurt to experiment once in a while, but if you’ve tried it and suck, there’s no point in practicing if you already have a method that works. -

Teammates are a great help. But you have to help them as well. If there’s a sniper picking everybody off, tell your teammates where he is and somebody will go and take him out. If they have a warthog and gunner, tell them to stay behind cover and get a demo expert to take care of it. – Caael

Don’t be discouraged. So you’ve lost a few matches in a row, don’t lose heart. The moment you get angry is the moment you lose concentration and get your ass kicked even more. If you get angry, turn the 360 and come back later. Same if you’re paired up with a bad team. I cant remember how many times I used to quit a game because of my crap team in a post game lobby. Low ranks doesn’t mean much. Wait until you’re playing the game and you’ll see that your team aren’t actually that bad.

Be tactical. If you see an enemy beat down somebody else, the chances are the enemy is on low shields. Just empty a few bullets into him for an easy kill.

Don’t shoot vehicles with bullets. Seriously, they will do little to nothing. You can think that you’re whittling it down all you want, but by the time you’ve actually shot the front panel off, you’ll have been killed 3-4 times by it. Use explosives as it takes just one stick to destroy a ghost. Also more ghost tips, if you cant splatter for your life, blow it up. If you cant use it, dont let your enemy have it if they have a ghost expert on their team. -

Don’t use weapons you aren’t good with. I cant count the times i’ve seen somebody using the laser or sniper and missing every shot. If it doesn’t work for you, dont use it. I cant use the sniper rifle at all, but i’m pretty good on a warthog turret. If you’re not good at something, dont use it because it’s a powerful weapon because if you miss every shot, there’s no point in even having it. -

Especially on Big Team slayer, try to take down as many people as possible in one run. I know it sounds obvious, but if you’re running out there guns blazing but only manage to kill 1 person before getting killed yourself, you’re not really helping much. If the charge approach doesn’t work for you, try something else; stealth, long range etc.

these few tips that i’m about to share, i dont see many other players do often at all, and they pertain to the warthog and banshee. first one: when you and a couple of your guys decide to get into the warthog at the beginning of a match, have your driver (if your not the driver), drive straight to the spartan laser spawn, one of you get out and get it, and get back in and continue to drive around and have your gunner annihilate everyone, because the last thing you want is to lose such a powerful vehicle, as well as giving your enemy the spartan laser, the lead with a double or triple kill (especially if its team slayer/big team slayer or whatever), AND the upper hand since they may now still have their own warthog and the spartan laser if another teammate of yours didnt grab it already. you could also fly your banshee over to the spartan laser spawn, get out and grab it so you dont get shot out of the air. it would make sense to me for the passenger of the warthog to jump out and grab the laser and get back in, because he could use it that way. second tip: this one works in general, but also could very easily make up for tip #1′s worst case scenario of being lasered by an enemy out of your warthog or banshee. if you see an enemy warthog driving around the map, grab yourself some plasma grenades if you dont have any already, and go hide in a somewhat secluded location, you know, somewhere undercover, so you don’t get killed by it. you could even pop out a couple times from your hiding spot when its somewhat far away and BR the driver or gunner once or twice to entice the driver to come to you to try to kill you. wait there until you hear the warthog approaching, and keep a watch on your radar to also see it approaching. as soon as you feel confident, pop out and chuck a plasma grenade to try to stick it, or throw a frag or plasma down in the path of the big sucker. try to estimate the speed and distance away from you it is, and throw your plasma at where the warthog is GOING to be. i’ve learned from experience with this; you may often end up underestimating where it will be and your grenade will land in the spot the warthog JUST WAS, but is no longer, and the warthog crew drives away unscathed (i’ve had this misfortune plenty of times). if your lucky, you will stick it. also hope the warthog will have already been damaged a bit by your teammates before you chucked your grenade (since it takes 2 plasma grenade sticks to destroy a warthog in perfect condition), and BOOM!… you will have made your team proud. you may also just end up flipping the warthog upside down from the grenade blast if you dont actually stick it, leaving the crew vulnerable. throw any grenade at the scene of the accident and BR the heck out of the damaged crew, you may just kill them all in the end… actually, you probably will. this also works with just about any vehicle, such as the mongoose, ghost or even a wraith, though don’t expect to flip a wraith with a grenade… and Third: you can also do a similar maneuver with an enemy banshee, though this one is a bit harder and riskier to do, since your probably more likely to lose this type of a fight. if an enemy banshee is coming directly at you and firing those dreaded blue balls of death at your face, stand your ground if its somewhat close to you. keep walking tiny amounts left and right while still facing it to dodge some of the oncoming fire, wait till it gets as close as you like, though the closer the better, and then… you know whats coming… stick it with a plasma right on that shiny bulbous part, above the guns. trust me, you WILL feel proud if all goes well. you could also try your luck at a stick if the banshee is stuck running into a canyon wall or stuck between some trees and cant get out. you could also try a hijack if it is right in your face, but hopefully not zooming at you, because if it is zooming, you WILL go splat!. hope these tips help. gamertag -

COMMUNICATE. If you don’t have a mic then you shouldn’t be playing Halo, or any online game that has teams. Anyway, if you are lucky enough to get the Sniper Rifle at the beginning of the match then stay back a little until your teammates can tell you where the enemy sniper is because you will have the best and possibly even the only chance to kill them. Another thing you can do if you have the sniper on a map like Valhalla then you can stay back at your base and wait for enemies to go off of the main man cannon, if you have it lined up perfectly then you can simply aim somewhere near their head and it will kill them in one shot(you don’t have to hit their head, it just has to be close to it because that is what bungie used in order to make up for lag). Another useful tip is if you are on Valhalla(I play on Valhalla a lot) and it just happens that everyone starts with Battle Rifles then you should all stay somewhat apart and in the middle of the map, and everyone just aim at the same person and they will be dead in a matter of seconds, this tip and many others only work if you communicate with your team so that is why it is a very essential part of Halo.

i’m not sure if this has been said before(i didnt read all the tips) if you are in a bubble shield and you see a guy with shotty, sword, gravity hammer, etc coming towards you, just before they come in to kick your ass throw a grenade of any kind and walk out the back then if the bubble shield was destroyed, or they idiotically walk out, kill them with whatever weapon you have. another tip is on the pit in the sword room there are small windows on either side i would throw a frag (or if you have one, a sticky) in through the window to lower their shields, then when there still distracted run in and finish them off. gamertag:

Ok the best thing I have found to do on team BR if you have good head shots is pick up a carbine. And when entering a one on one fight stay at long range and move from side to side but never jump. If your enemy moves closer keep going side to side, this will make him aim worse and will almost all ways drop dead before he is with in beat down range. Remember Carbine all ways beats BR.—

[edit] Suppressive Fire

Another good thing to do is to get a Heavy machine gun (the portable turret), and support your team with suppressive fire, this disables the enemies’ ability to attack you because they are all in defensive positions, or taking cover (some stupid ones would stick their head up and try to snipe you, but too bad for them), while utilizing suppressive fire and disabling the enemies’ ability to attack since they are busy defending and half your team can snipe them, while the other half can use the AR on them, while the others can take the flag. Help:Signing

In FFA, the most helpful strategy is to “crab it up.” This means to just try to steal as many kills as possible. Have your intent on taking advantage of the disadvantaged opponents. Although, remember not to lose a life foolishly. Lives lost in that manner can dictate a match depending on how good the opposing players are at picking apart your weaknesses. Always go for a positive output. For example, if you can kill two/more people by sacrificing your own life, then your death isn’t necessarily a bad thing unless it’s toward the end of a close match or a pivotal moment. Try to avoid getting caught up in crowded fights between people. These situations are like giant targets for people at a distance to gain the upper-hand and pick off kills. Basically come into the FFA with a good handling over logic. Being a kill-stealer isn’t always a bad thing. (Unless you are playing a game against people at your house, you could get a good slap across the head and a “That’s so cheap!” comment.) Since people always tend to group in one place, just lob a frag grenade in there and you’ve have yourself a few kills. –

Also, always bear in mind that you can easily cover your team with the lowliest of weapons due to the fact that if anyone is hit whilst zoomed in, they automatically zoom out. This often results in enemy snipers getting so frustrated that whenever they zoom in for a shot they come straight back out, they regularly switch to AR and charge from suicidal distances. Llama Lord 13

One thing that is sorta over looked is the plasma pistol and BR combo. If you charge the Plasma pistol and hit the enemy with the shot it will leave them without a shield and then just a quick 3round burst to the face 4 an easy kill :)

The plasma pistol and BR, good but not so if you can’t find one or the other. Keep a look out for a plasma rifle and a spiker, mauler and plasma pistol, ect. Just make sure to have a weapon that can easily deplete shields with a few rounds and one to finish them off. I find that dual weilding and having a weapon such as a BR or AR as back up works well. Just remember to keep some sort of bread & butter gun as back up – you know, the essentials – and you should be good. -

One tip I’ve found most useful is when the somebody has the sword and is looking at you like a hot plate of kill. Since in Halo 3 the range of the energy sword is reduced, this gives a whopping chance to beat the sword guy. When he comes barreling at you, quickly aim down and throw a ‘nade where he’ll be in two seconds and at the same time crouch-jump backwards. The swordguy’s only play is to charge you and lunge, so he’ll walk right through the blast, draining his shields. Finish him off with a headshot and inform him that there’ll be no free-kills today. =) -

Another extremely useful tip to use is when a nearly dead opponent drops down a Bubble Shield. Sometimes I’ll just run into it and plop a sticky grenade on his visor, but my favorite one to use is when he drops down a Bubble Shield, take a Grav-Lift, and toss in the middle of the Bubble Shield. This will lift the Bubble Shield up in the air, leaving the wuss defenseless. -

If somebody is dominating the map with the Spartan Laser, use the most overlooked weapon by noobs, the Needler. This works because even the best S’plaser dude has charge it. When the reticule turns red, fire the pink mist in his general direction while being careful to side-step the laser. Watch him pop like a Spartan balloon! -

Suppressive fire – doesn’t. Though remember that in some cases, scared is better than dead. If your enemy see that pilot light of a Spartan Laser or see that trail of a sniper, it deters them. Best use of this semi-psychological warfare is during CTFs or when you have to conserve your ammunition. –

[edit] Team Doubles

You Don’t need to worry about proximity voice in team doubles because it is a ranked game so there is no need to private chat. Although go ahead if you want to.

Whilst this would work in other team games, you are missing the point when the rest of your team can’t communicate with you – though for some, this is not a problem. -)

You can also use the setting to speak to only team and part.– 01:39, 9 November 2007 (CET)

When playing double team, weapons have less significance because of the variety available on the map and the lack of enemies to attack – this takes away most of the power from the ‘power weapons’. What makes the difference however is how the weapons are used. For example:

On isolation the opposition, the majority of the time, will go straight for the rocket/sniper combo as these are the ‘power weapons’. Keeping this is mind you have enough time to both claim BR’s, a secondary weapon of choice and the regenerator. The all round ability of the BR means that you’re more than a match for the sniper and the regenerator gives you the advantage in luring out anyone carrying the sniper/rockets because they think they can kill you despite the security of your regenerator.

Whilst good aim and communication take precedence in every form of halo’s online matchmaking, team positioning plays a much larger role in doubles than it does in most other types. There are two types of team in double team those who stick together and those who don’t. If you’re just starting out in halo it is advised that you stick together throughout the majority of your matches however the best sort of team moves in and out of close contact with their partners keeping medium distance apart for actual conflict. This works on many levels:

1. It expands the range that the team covers in each map. 2. It gives the illusion of isolation – any team seeing what appears to be a solitary enemy will jump at the chance to attack sometimes attacking with insufficient force to take out a second enemy at the same time. 3. It gives multiple directions of attacking an enemy – if an enemy attacks from the front and then retreats once damaged a team that keeps distance can attack from the left and right of the object containing the enemy and guaranteeing the kill. 4. It gives the opposition multiple fronts to fight on – a person can only look in one direction at one time, players attacking from multiple directions have the advantage. This also limits the amount of damage grenades can do.

[edit] Team Games

Rule 1: TALK TO YOUR TEAM; any team game is easier when you talk to your team, not only does it allow strategies rather than everyone doing what they want. Also when you die you can fill your team in on where and what they enemies around you are doing

When you die you can use the death cam to view other players. Use this to your advantage. (This works local, and I think it works with Live too.)–

Rule 2: WORK IN FORMATION. If everybody on your team is running around like a pack of idiots, you won’t stand much of a chance. The easiest formations to work are pairs. . . Even if the players can’t communicate (no microphone, or close to an enemy position), one can just follow the other to double the fire power and field of vision, as well as the often overlooked advantage of being able to carry 4 different types of weapons instead of just 2. Even a lone player with a BR watching their teammates through his/her scope can change the tide of battle drastically, even more so than a player with a BR acting alone.–

Special Hint For Ranked TS: Competing in ranked matches with a team that you gel with, or work well with, is important, because you may find yourself losing a lot of games if you randomly search for a team all of the time. Social slayer is great for this, especially if your friends play, it allows you to meet people and make new teams or practice strategies with an existing team without the risk of losing levels.–

A nice communication-booster for team games is to take your team of buddies into custom games for a little while and play territories on all of the maps commonly used in matchmaking. This way, when you are playing a game such as CTF or slayer, it is easy to tell your allies where the enemies are or where they are heading by calling out the territory numbers. (I.e.: “I need help at 2!” or “Three of them at 5.”). –

All ways go in buddies. Now I am not saying run side by side every second because one plasma or spike can take you both out or a frag then a couple BR to the head. stay far enough away so the enemy team thinks your not together then if they pick on one the other you can take them out and you and your buddy will live for another fight. also have weapons that work well with each other I.E. BR sniper and Shotgun AR. This will almost always do good for your K/D ratio and a good way to make friends.—

You could also play custom games in the forge to learn the maps weapons and respawn points. If you know where the weapons and vehicles are, you can say things like “He’s by the turret!” or “Sniper by the banshee!” Knowing respawn points can help you to know in what area the enemy normally spawns and what weapons are nearby for him to grab. For example, if you respawn in a base at Valhalla what weapon should you look for and what should your strategy be? If you are playing Assault at Highground and you are defending, should you watch out for a sniper?–

Just to completely confuse everyone, sometimes it’s better to split up into a smaller group than your enemy and surround them or use other flanking tactics. This way you’ll also be less suceptable to a ‘lucky grenade’ or plasma type weapon which could result in quick death of your team.

[edit] More like a Suggestion

Not everyone has the perfect night. Sometimes we all just get stuck in a rutt and need a little motivation. Take a break from Team Slayer or Objective, whatever, and jump into a Big Team Battle just for fun. Or, if you have enough people, a Rumble Pit with just you guys. There have been times when we were just doing horrible, jump into a custom game to relax, then annihilate the next 9 teams. Make sure you’re relaxed when you’re playing and you’ll have a better time. trust me, I’m the one in the group with the bad temper, and if it works for me, it’ll work for you. -

I’ve got a tip, it’s kind of stupid but it works 50% of the time for FFA playlists. If you’re on a map (ex. Snowbound), change your armor color so it blends in with your surrondings. It helps most the time and it’s the split second decision thats gonna make you have the advantage.

But what you don’t realize is that when you go inside the bases or on top of them, you will standout. I suggest a color such as grey because it blends into things slightly easier than the other colors, no matter where you are. –

Jumping off the map does have some useful benefits. In Team Oddball games, you can jump off the boundaries of maps like Guardian and Construct when your shields are down and it is certain that you will die. This will reset the Oddball and give your team a fighting chance to recover it. Similarly, you can jump off the maps if you possess a power weapon and you are sure you will die. Even though weapons will respawn regardless of how long they are held, it will force the other team to move to the weapon respawn points in order to get another one. Such weapon control can be used for great effect, especially for the Sniper Rifle on Construct and the Shotgun on Guardian. –

ok i dont really agree with jumping and killing yourself because you could go down fighting like throw a grenade or an energy drain or something so that your teammates can come in and mop up an already woulded guy and get the power wepon–

dont be stupid, my team i was on ended up losing a match because for like 10 min we all went our own ways and it was too late when we realized we needed to stick together moral of story STICK WITH YOUR TEAM!!!!!–Quite a good tip is when you get stuck by someone close to you in a team slayer. instead of continuing to shoot run straight towards them. 9 out of 10 players will hesitate and by the time they realised what happened they will have been blown to pieces along with you , so you you pretty much cancel out the point they would get.–
